I am pulled away from the usual hustle and bustle of senior year in college to learn about the art of ballroom dancing. Writing and learning about Dance Crazy gave me a new appreciation for ballroom dancing and the hours of work to make the program run. As an amateur ballroom dancer myself, it amazes me that children between the ages of 10 and 12 can learn a tantalizing tango or a whimsical waltz.

Even though I will be interning in Proctor’s Theater promotions department this semester, I will continue to be a part of the Dance Crazy organization. I have volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at the Coeyman’s Elementary School.

Ballroom Dancing Invades Area Classrooms
An organization in the Capital Region is striving to bring the art of ballroom dancing to the future leaders of the world. When picturing children dancing, images of tutus, tap shoes and sequined costumes come to mind. But, imagine a fifth or sixth-grader learning how to dance an elegant waltz or a passionate tango.

On Friday, November 17, The College of Saint Rose Safety and Security Department moved to a new location on campus. The department left its offices in Lima Hall and moved to 340 Western Ave., which was once the location of the Neighborhood Watch Center.

Graduate Pursues True Passion
Landing a dream job right out of college is rare for many students. Jennifer Birnbach was one of these students. Birnbach, a 23-year-old Saint Rose alumnus from the Class of 2005, is currently putting her communications degree to work at News Channel 13 WNYT.
