Jared Adams

I was raised Jared Wilson Adams in a rural small town in Central New York, just along the Hudson River. From a young age I found myself utilizing an inherent gift for rhyme and prose; carelessly spending the fleeting months and years constructing various manuscripts of one form or another to fulfill my own whimsical fancies. It was not until my sophomore year at Saint Rose that I stumbled upon the school’s journalistic endeavors and decided to partake of them as best I could. The result was a one and a half semester stint as The Saint Rose Chronicle’s Arts & Entertainment editor and an ongoing role as an opinion columnist for the same publication.

Another of my passions is, and ever will be, the miracle of the motion picture. It was for this reason that I opted to write my piece on the Spectrum Theatre. At the risk of my objective journalistic integrity, I consider it the finest theatre in the area and think it a true credit to the art form as a whole. Read all about it here in my article.

Heather Brown

I am a senior at The College of Saint Rose and plan to graduate in May of 2007.  I transferred from Pace University in New York City as a junior in 2005 where I was originally a Business major.  Once I began attending Saint Rose I switched majors and became interested in Communications.  I declared my major in the beginning of my junior year.  My interest in writing for a magazine or newspaper grew when I took a journalism class while finishing my senior year at Washingtonville High School.  In the future, I hope to have a successful career in the magazine industry.

I am pulled away from the usual hustle and bustle of senior year in college to learn about the art of ballroom dancing. Writing and learning about Dance Crazy gave me a new appreciation for ballroom dancing and the hours of work to make the program run. As an amateur ballroom dancer myself, it amazes me that children between the ages of 10 and 12 can learn a tantalizing tango or a whimsical waltz.

Even though I will be interning in Proctor’s Theater promotions department this semester, I will continue to be a part of the Dance Crazy organization. I have volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at the Coeyman’s Elementary School.

Tom Caprood

Tom Caprood is a Public Communications major at The College of Saint Rose. He begins his senior year in the spring of 2007. Tom transferred to Saint Rose from the Mass Communications program at SUNY Oneonta in 2005 in search of a better environment to finish his schooling.

A person who has always enjoyed writing, Tom is currently leaning toward working in journalism or other print media as a future career. He originally planned to come out of college focusing on television and film production but decided to change his path a bit. He had a profile story published in The Chronicle on October 11th, 2006 and a letter to the editor published in The Times Union on November 17th, 2006. For his final semester, Tom plans to try for an internship at one of the local newspapers and see where it takes him.

Media is something that Tom’s life truly revolves around. When he is not focusing on assignments or practicing techniques for his classes, he loves to watch movies, read books, and play video games. He is just happy to be able to head toward a career in a field that he enjoys so much.

I grew up in Wallkill, New York, and spent most of my time with my best friend, Alicia, who was my neighbor all through high school. I graduated in 2005 looking to pursue a degree in Communications, in hopes of one day starting my own advertising business.

I wrote this story on the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program of the Capital Region to show Saint Rose students how easy it can be to get involved in the community and make a difference in a child’s life. I’m currently a sophomore at The College of Saint Rose, and I participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program my first two semesters here. I loved working with the children and found volunteering to be a very rewarding experience.

Zachary Peterson

I grew up in the small village of Montgomery, New York. I am a Business major at the College of Saint Rose, with a minor in Communications, and I plan on graduating with a Bachelor’s degree and then continuing on to graduate school to further my studies in marketing and management. I have a love for sports, and I care deeply about those who are close to me. I hope to finish my college career in 2009 and go on to bigger and better things. I want to possibly run my own business someday, and have many people working for me. It’s always been a dream for me, however, I’ve also always been interested in journalism, and hopefully in the future I’ll put my unique writing techniques to use and eventually become a wealthy man.
