Where to Find a Career in Public Radio

There’s a movie called “Hero” in which Geena Davis
plays a high profile television news reporter. In one scene, a
man is about to leap to his death from the edge of a skyscraper and
Davis and her cameraman are trying to talk him down. They just
about have him convinced when he suddenly turns and jumps, plunging
50 stories to his death. “Did you get that?” Davis yells to
the cameraman. Then she hears herself. “I can’t believe I said
that,” she breathes, and shakes her head in disbelief.
It’s a film moment I’ll never forget.

FROM SAINT ROSE to VH-1

Every once in a while I’ll glance out of my office
window out on to Broadway just a few blocks north of Times
Square, and take the time to appreciate it more than usual. Aside
from a really great view of the Winter Garden Theater—home to the
long-running musical based on Swedish pop legends ABBA, “Mamma Mia,”
which I hear is ABBA-riffic—this moment gives me a feeling of
accomplishment, even seven-plus years after moving to New York.

What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been

It’s Monday morning and yet the start of another work
week. I feed the animals, have my coffee with Matt Lauer (sans
Katie Couric), and head upstairs to shower, all of which could be
the typical morning activities for millions of working Americans.
But this is where my day departs from what would be considered
“typical” as I am one of the growing population of professional
women who own their businesses and who work from home. And,
what a long, strange trip it has been.

their newest publication Blueprint.
